Lin and Sam Adams work in the Respect Organics Studio Gallery in the beautiful hilltop town of Shaftesbury, Dorset, home to one of the most photographed views in the UK, Gold Hill. Only 20 minutes from Salisbury and Sherborne, drop in to soak up the landscape in our gallery and walled garden. You might even catch us testing the quality of our Respect Organics cake range and join us for a slice of banana loaf as you take in the art!
We are busy gearing up for the Spring, organizing exhibition dates and looking forward to a little warmer weather. The snowdrops are beginning to reach full bloom and Sam has a very sweet new watercolour inspired by these delicate flowers that brave the cold.
Our Dorset Art Pathway continues
“I’ll happily wait hours for the light to change from grey to gold to purple. When I’m standing there on the heath I’m transported to Hardy’s Woodlanders and if I can get anywhere close to capturing his written emotions on canvas I’m overjoyed.”
Lin Adams discovered the joy of pastels five years ago and has never looked back. Using pastels and acrylics to reflect a sense of place, Lin’s inspiration is Hardy’s Wessex, from heathland, woodland, breathtaking skies and where the Dorset landscape meets the sea. “When painting I love to get up close and personal with nature, I feel a part of it myself on a good day. I can return to the same meadow again and again and again throughout the year and never get bored as the seasons transform the landscape before me. Just one tree will stop me in my tracks and make me want to sketch, a piece of nature’s very own sculpture...”
Sam’s watercolour paintings capture the shapes and colours of Dorset and can bring the warmth and vibrancy of a summer meadow into your home, whatever the weather. Sam also has a range of lovely cards, teaches one-to-one and does commissions. Click here for more of Sam’s paintings.
“I’ve realised I am fascinated by the relationship between humans and the space around us, and the visual shapes, colours and patterns that creates. I just have great fun spotting the quirky or a glorious accidental combination of colours. I also seem to have a bizarre obsession with blue doors and shop signs.”
Kate’s photographs are available in high quality, modern white frames and mounts. Click here for more of Kate’s photographs.
“I’m improving all the time. Sam is a great teacher.”
“My daughter loves her art lessons. She even had her picture of a snowman turned into a proper Christmas card and was thrilled.”
